CPD Event title: Escaping Trauma – Half Day Workshop
Brief Description Of Event: How often have you found clients prisoners of their past? They are stuck in a cycle of unhealthy behaviours, overwhelming feelings, or destructive thought patterns, and despite their best intentions seem unable to move forward.
This is a typical scenario when clients have experienced trauma in their past, whether recently or in their childhood. The trauma has an impact in their lives here and now, even though it occurred back then and there.
Psychologist and hypnotherapist, Julie Hurst, has spent many years researching the impact of trauma on the brain and how to free clients from this cycle, using a blend of psychology, neuroscience and hypnosis.
Escaping trauma: the therapeutic pathway to healing is a half-day training programme that puts the power of this process in your hands so you can help and support your clients in the most effective way possible. You will be able to help your clients break free from the traumas of the past, and step into a healthier, brighter future.
Learning Objectives: During the day you will learn:
• The nature of trauma and its neurological, behavioural, and emotional impacts
• Unfolding the presence of trauma,
• Client safety and anxiety reduction
• Understanding the Escaping Trauma pathway: its stages, how it works, and why it’s so successful
• A chance to put what you’ve learned into practice via a breakout session
• Case studies detailing the use of the pathway and how you can apply it in your own practice.

About the course
Escaping Trauma: the therapeutic pathway to healing is a unique training experience that takes you through the necessary approaches to deal successfully with past traumas with a step-by-step approach. You will be given all of the practical tools, and theoretical underpinning necessary to be able to apply what you have learned in your own practice immediately upon completion. All learning materials will be issued before the course begins. Please note this is a training programme, not therapy and the practise session is a roleplay not a treatment.
About your trainer
Julie Hurst holds an MSc in Positive Psychology and is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society. She is currently undertaking a PhD in compassion practices and the wellbeing and resilience of children. Her working life is divided between training in schools and major companies on wellbeing and resilience, and a private practice where she works with both adults and children. The Escaping Trauma pathway was developed from both her psychological background and her direct experience of working with clients whose past trauma cause issues in their present day lives.
