CPD Event title: Working with Children and Families
Brief Description Of Event: Research is shows that 1 in 5 children will experience mental health issues before the age of 18. Having seen a dramatic increase in the number of children coming for hypnotherapy in my practice over last 10 years. I have found myself increasingly specialising in this area. Working with children is not just about the symptoms of the child but it is about working with families. A much different dynamic than working 1-2-1 with an adult.
Techniques for working with children are different and a comprehensive intervention is imperative as well as a sensitive empathy towards the parents and carers who are often under enormous stress when things are not going well with their little ones.
This 2 day workshop will take you through the initial consultation process that I have developed over the last 14 years in practice. The workshop will cover the regulations for working with children and give you a session by session plan for working with conditions such as anxiety, pooing/bed wetting , bullying and selective eating. All of which are common problems presented with at our clinic.
Learning Objectives:
On the workshop you will learn:
- What has changed in society to cause increasing problems for children (social media, gaming, covid)
- How to do a child focus intervention. Adult pre-talk and rapport building
